THE YELLOW PERIL.
AN OMINOUS FORECAST. l ßy Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] London, May 26. Mr Lovat Frazer, in an article in the Daily Mail, entitled “Yellow Men’s Brains and White Men’s Markets,” says that Japan is not going to fight about California. A iemp>rary success would be useless, and it is certain that* Japan could not find funds for such a war. The issue, however, is not trivial. When China regains her stability she will advance the same demand for intercourse with the white races upon terms of equality. Australia, and not Western America, will bo the scene of the next phase of the interminable conflict with Asia. The entire population of the Commonwealth could he comfortably and properously established hi the Northern Rivers District of Nop South Wales, and the rich coastal belt of Northern Australia is capable of, main- ' tabling thirty millions. At present it is inhabited by less than a thousand. Britain has painted Australia red on the map and left it. At the ’ present fate of progress.,.., Australia r will be unable to stem the"yellow inva- U si on for a century. The only chance of salvation will be if the mastery of tho Pacific passes to the United States.
