HIS MAJESTY’S PICTURES,
“The Eye of the Idol” is the big attraction at His Majesty’s Theatre -this evening, and should prove one of the most fascinating dramas ever screened here. The “Derelict’s Return” is a typical American drama. Harry Byers, who lives with a widowed i mother in a small town, is of the age when his impetuous nature does not like restraint. The minister of the parish and his sister Beth, take a great interest in him and try hard to keep him away from the saloons ancf pool rooms. He leaves home, but a year later be becomes a typical vagrant and on the verge of starvation, ji In his wanderings he gets back to the village and one night steals a loaf of bread. He is chased by a policeman and in his flight dashes into the church and climbs to the belfry. There lie sleeps, but the next morning is' awakened by the bell tolling i for the dead. Descending to the chancel he sees a funeral service in order. Stumbling up teethe casket he recognises the body of his mother ! and sinks to his’knees heartbroken. Beth goes to his side and with words - of comfort takes him back to the cottage. Starting life anew he asks Beth to marry him. and she consents. “The Stolon Picture” and “An Accidental Dentist” are two unique comics, and the more serious side of the programme is well represented by “An Empire Maker,” being a pictorial biography of the late Cecil John Rhodes.
