A MINER KILLED. [Peu Press Association.! Invercargill, April *2. James Hewitt, 45 years of age, a married man, employed in the N’gktcaps mine, was killed instantaneously to-day. He had fired a charge, Lut as it did not go off he returned., when an explosion occurred, causing fatal chest injuries. Deceased was a recent arrival from Home. , j BODY CAST UP BY FLOODS. Invercargill, April 2. The body of a man was found to-dav on Mataura Island, where it had been cast up by the floods. The throat had been fearfully gashed, prooably by a razor, and the doctor states that this is the cause of death. The body has not yet been identified.
