SOCIAL EVENING ENDS IN TRAGEDY. A MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR. (Received 9.10 a.m.) Sydney, January 29. A mysterious poisoning case has occurred in Wellington Street. A man named George Miller, and his Avife, Avere entertaining some friends last night, and everything aa ent pleasantly. A bottle of Avine Avas produced, and Mrs. Miller took a glass She collapsed in a. feAV seconds, exclaiming, “Poisoned!” Mr. Miller, in a spirit of unbelief, tasted the wine, and to feel bad. He ran to summon a 'doctor, but Avas overcame en route. His Avife meamvhile expired. Miller is not expected to recover. An empty Avine bottle Avas found containing sufficient strychnine to kill a dozen people.
