A YOUTHFUL BURGLAR.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, January 23
John Bandley, 15 years of age, who was arrested last night by a constable on the premises of the Albert Brewery, admitted that he climbed over the roof of the buildings adjoining the brewery and descended to the yard by a water pipe. The police have in their possession goods stolen from Smith and Caughey, drapers, and ho also admitted having burgled the City Chambers on Monday night, and attempted to enter John Court’s premises.
It was stated he was hidden in Smith and Caughey’s when the police searched the premises and watched their movements.
Bandley is a native of Melbourne, and was for some time on the training ship Sobraon at Sydney, from which ho deserted and arrived in Auckland as a stowaway on the steamer Victoria.
