TO-DAY’S BUSINESS

At the Labour Conference, Mr. Tiegear announced that he and Professoi Mills had been appointed to represent the Labour Party Executive.
Mr. Webb moved that the conference affirms the necessity of one organisation being in the field for the advancement and protection of organised labour.
Mr. Young moved as an amendment that the conference is of opinion that the delegates should at once proceed to draft a provisional constitution foi the creation of a federation of workers for political and industrial action, such constitution to be submitted to a plebiscite vote of all members of each union in New Zealand, including those unions now forming units of the Federation of Labour, a. majority vote of members of each union to rule, and bind all members of such union. The Conference decided by 60 votes to 39 that the questions should be discussed separately. The discussion is proceeding.
