THE YASS SEAT

Regarding the New South Wales political situation, Mr Wills, in an interview with an Evening Post reporter, said a telegram was forwarded to him at Auckland by the Clerk of the Assembly, and sent on to him at Wellington, stating that a letter was given to the captain of a steamer, coming from San Francisco, with instructions to hand it to him personally. The letter was from Mr Noilson. The captain, finding he (Mr Willis) was absent from the State, delivered the letter , to the Clerk of the Assembly. He knew nothing as tc the contents of the letter, which would reach him on his return to Sydney. If he had received it hero he would have no jurisdiction. When he reached Sydney the resignation would lie accepted, and the election would take place in due course.

The Liberals are confident of winning the Blayney seat. A section of the Labour party are strongly opposing Mr Beeby for breaking with the Party.
