Mr. Newton King’s Weekly Report

On Friday, 3rd instant, I had a fair entry in my Rahotu yards and, considering the sale being held on an off-day, there was a good attendance of buyers. Competition throughout was very keen, all shock selling vanced rates, as follows: Grade 15 to 18 month heifers from £3 7s to £4 5s for a very nice line, 18 month steers with a, bit of colour £3 10s and £3 17s fid was obtained for a well grown pen of Shorthorns, hat cows £3 8s fid to £5 16s, forward steers £4 4s to £4 18s 6d, bulls £2 4s to £3 Is, springing heifers £4 5s to £5 12s At Stratford on Tuesday, 7th instant, there was only a small yarding, but a very large attendance ol buyers from all parts. bidding throughout was brisk, everything being cleared during the day at the following rates: 18month heifers (empty) £3 8s 6cl to £3 11s, 18 month r.w.b: £3 1.6 s 6d to £4 is, springing heifers £5 12s 6d to £o LAs 6d, bulls ,£3 to £5, store cows, small or aged £2 7s 6d to £3 10s, forward cows £4 13s 6d to £5 3s, fat cows (in demand) £5 10s fid to £6 Be. A small pen of Shorthorn mixed weancrs realised £1; 14s# . On Wednesday, Bth instant, at Stony , River, there was only a small entry 'which sold as follows: —2 year steers £4 4s to £4 ss, 24-year heifers in calf £4 4s fid to £5 2ft Gd, fat heifers £5 6s, fat cows £5 2s to £5 10s, hulls £2 5s to £5 2s 6d, store cows £3 18s to £4 ss. Private sales since my last report were as follows: —Fat cows £5 7s 6d to £6 2s 6d, forward cows £4 15s, 18-month steers £3 5s 6d to £3 10s, 24-year steers £4 10s to £5 ss, 3 to SJ-vear bullocks £5 15s to £6 ss, forward bullocks £7 10s, empty 15-mos heifers £3 2s to £3 8s fid, 2 4-year heifers r.w.b. £4 15s to £5, springing heifers £6 ss, fat lambs 14s 6d, fat ewes 14s fid, lambs for forward delivery up to 10s fid, 2-tooth ewes 15s to'l7s, 2 and 4-tooth ewes 16s fid, 2tooth wethers 14s to 15s, 2 and 4 tooth wethers 16s, mixed 2-tooth 15s 6d, f.m. ewes 7s ewes and lambs £1 0s fid to £1 ss, dairy cows £8 to £lO, pedigree Jersey bulls £ls 15s, to £l7 17s, farm horses £l7 to £25.
