INFLUENCE OF THE FOOTLIGHTS (Received 9.20 a.m.) London, January 10. Rev. Dr. Campbell, of the City Temple, said it was time the Free Churches reconsidered their attitude towards ’ the theatres. Catholics were greater patriots in the arts than Protestants, and Nonconformists had not recovered from the Puritan blight. The Itev. F. W. Neyer (of Christchurch, said the stage had radically improved, but in view of the decreasing church attendance ho did not think it would be wise to foster the love of pleasures. The time had not. arrived for Nonconformists instituting similar action for church union. w
