WORK AND WAGES.
WORKERS UNITE. (Received 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, January 11. A conference of th(/Railway Workers and -General Labourers’ Association approved of the amalgamation with the United Labourers’ Protective Society, the question to be put to the ballot in both unions. The scheme amalgamates 21,000, covering all labourers in New South Wales. The ultimate objective to be propounded is the emancipation of Labour by the abolition of the wage I system, and the establishment of a co-operative Commonwealth. STRIKES OFF AND ON. ____ « ‘(Received 9.2(1 a.m.) London, January 10. The Lanarkshire miners’ strike has been settled, the owners consenting not to employ non-unionists. Six thousand Bradford dyers have struck,- refusing piece work, though they had been offered increased wages.
