COMMONWEALTH CABLES.

THAT GOVERNMENT HOUSE. Sydney, December 15. Mr. McGowen, Premier, accompanied by Messrs. Holman, Griffiths, and several members, yesterday declared Government House grounds open for the public. There was a large gathering, which proved extremely noisy. Mr. McGowen’s speech was only partially heard above the cheering and the hooting of opponents to the Government’s attitude on the matter. The speakers endeavoured unsuccessfully to make themselves heard. Mr. Henley, a member of the Assembly, delivered a bitter speech, condemning the Government. He was not heard, and handed the newspapers his speech for publication. The proceedings were otherwise good-humoured.
