SYDNEY’S SEVERE STORM.
LIC HTNING FATALITIES. Sydney, November 23. A sudden thunderstorm passed over the city, accompanied by phenomenal rain for half an hour. The streets were flooded, and considerable damage was done. A gang of five tramline repairers wore struck by lightning, and one named Parks was killed, while the others were slightly injured. Sydney, November 24. Payton’s imported stallion Petri Wo was struck dead during the storm. The Deuce Company’s meat-canning store at Botany was struck by lightning and wrecked. The rain was accompanied by large, jagged pieces of ice, which frightened horses and damaged the fruit crops.
