Before the Totalisator Commission the secretary of the Orange Jockey tiub favoured the machine. He declared that ho knew instances where book-makers took large bogus wagers in order to mislead the public. Bookmakers, rightly or wrongly, were supposed to control jockeys, but these charges were never satisfactorily proved.
