THE POLITICAL ARENA.

MR. ROBERTSON EXPLAINS. (Per Press Association.) Levin, April C. Mr. Robertson, M.P., addressed the electors at Levin om, Thursday evening. The hall was crowded, and some opposition evidenced itself, but by the majority of the meeting was favourably disposed, and though heated interjections were made occasionally, a good hearing was vouchsafed. He defended his vote on the no-comiUence motion, claiming that when Sir Joseph Ward- undertook that he would re-sign and thus ensured the resignation of bis Cabinet, Mi*-. Robertson's pre-election, pledge'was given effect to m full spirit, tic himself alwayt had said that lie was not a supporter of Mi-. Massey. Therefore, lie was fully justified in voting so as to keep Mr. Mass'ey off ,the; Government benches, the more so as it was known that if the Ward Government were defeated there would be "rats" from the Liber:'.! Party, whose votes would have prevented Labour getting a chance to turn out Mr. Massey. Amidst cheers a motion was carried that the meeting thanked Mr. Robertson for his address, and expressed the opinion that he voted in .Parliament in the best interests of the Dominion.
