THE WAR IN TRIPOLI.
UNDER SEALED ORDERS. (Received 26, 9 a.m.) Malta, February 25. The cruiser Lancaster is tastily leaving under sealed orders. It is believed her destination is Beirut. STRANGERS LEAVE HODEIDAH. (Received 26, 9 a.m.) Aden, February 25. The steamer Armand Behic called at Hodeidah and embarked ninety-three Europeans and French proteges. The Italian warship did not interfere. AN OFFICIAL REPORT. (Received 26, 9 a.m.) Rome, February 25. It is officially stated that Admiral Paravelli surprised the Turkish warships at Beirut, and demanded their surrender by nine o’clock. He communicated with the Governor, and repeated the demand. At nine o’clock ne had not received reply so opened fire on the corvette Avanillah, which replied vigorously. Eventually a fire broke out, silencing /the Avanillah. The warship Garibaldie then torpedoed and fired guns at a Turkish torpadoer, sinking her. Admiral Pravelli categorically denies the bombaiding cf the town, and says the squad;o;i left immediately.
