THE MOUNTAIN HOUSE.
IMPROVEMENTS WELL FORWARD There were a fair number of visitors at the East Mountain House yesterday. Five left for the top, though nobody actually reached there. A lady and gentleman who are staying at the house made an unsuccessful attempt on Saturday, and again failed yesterday. A fairly large party, including ladies and children, made a trii> through to Curtis Falls.
One visitor reported that he had ridden right up to the House on his motor-cycle. The work on the track is progressing well, though the carting of timber for the new buildings has made the track rough in spots. However, it is expected that the whole of the carting will be finished by to-morrow, after which the road will be patched up again. The. house-blocks for the extension to the buildings have now been placed in position, and the bulk of the timber and iron required is now on the ground. The work of building is to be pushed forward with expedition, and it is expected that it will be in occupation in three weeks’ time.
