N.S.W. BY-ELECTIONS. Sydney, October 29. ’ The voting in the by-election for Mainland was :—Nicholson (Liberal) 3095, Vial (Labour) 2900. For Liverpool Plains the voting was:—Ashford (Labour) 3087, Perry (Liberal) 3302. A few small returns to come, but they cannot alter the result. This leaves the party strength:— Labour 46, Liberal 44. Mr. Willis, being Speaker, reduces the Liberals’ vote bv 1.
VICTORIAN ELECTIONS
(Received 30, 9.40 a.m.) Melbourne, October 30. Owing to an error in issuing the dissolution writ, the State elections must be held on November 16th, a week earlier than intended.
