MOTOR ACCIDENT.
LADY DUDLEY'S HARROW ESCAPE. i Sydney, A ley Lord Dudley’s motor-car. with Lady Dudley aboard, was jambod between two moving trams in Oxford-street. The car was badly smashed. Lady Dudley was severely shaken, but escaped uninjured. Lady Dudley was slightly bruised and shaken. The escape was a sensational one. Ladv Dudley was taking her daily drive in a 00-borsc-power Daimler ear. when the chauffeur, the only other occupant of the car, attempted to cross between two trams running in opposite directions, under the impression that one was about to stop at a non-stop street. On realising that a collision was inevitable, (be chauffeur swung the ear partially round between the trams, the drivers of which eased the speed. The car struck one smartly, and was jambed by Hie other tram. The splintered glass and woodwork scattered over Lady Dudley;’ who showed great coolness and) nerve in her perilons_posi( ion and declared herself to be unhurt. Lady Dudlev considered I lie accident unavoidable, and returned to Oovernmcnt HouSo in n. rab. Hut for the chauffeur’s action in swinging and the trams easing, the car between litem would have boon cut in two. The windows and some woodwork were smashed, but otherwise the damage was not serious
