EARLY MARKETING OF LAMBS

Appeal By Meat Board

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 28. Both in the interests of the fanners themselves and of the nation, the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board desires to impress on fanners the necessity for delivering lambs, particularly early lambs, to the freezing works as soon as possible. It is expected that this season there will again be heavy production of meat for export and the delivery of stock to the works when ready for slaughter will greatly reduce the risk of congestion, disorganiza-r tion and disappointment.

The importance of farmers marketing lambs as quickly as possible follows from the importance of filling all the shipping space offering at the beginning of the season, combined with anticipated difficulties in the transport of stock to the works and the restricted amount of labour at the works.
