INSURANCE MANAGER’S SUDDEN DEATH

(P.A.) BLENHEIM, October 24. Kenneth Burns Bain, aged 55, Christchurch branch manager of the North British Mercantile Insurance Company, died suddenly last evening at Picton. Mr Bain had just landed from a launch with a party of Christchurch friends who were going down the Sounds for a holiday. A Christchurch doctor, who was also in Picton at the time, had been treating Mr Bain for some time for heart trouble.

RAILWAY EMPLOYEE KILLED CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. Francis Orton Thomas, a railway employee, aged 52, was killed in a collision between a train and a taxi at Lincoln road railway crossing about 12.30 this morning.
