RETIRED CIVIL SERVANTS IN WAR-TIME JOBS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 8. Regulations affecting the superannuation of retired civil servants and school teachers who are re-engaged by the Government for war-time jobs were gazetted tonight. Under the existing law superannuitants who are thus reemployed are not entitled to the total income from their war-time salary and superannuation in excess of their salary at the time of retirement. Where necessary superannuation is reduced in conformity with this limitation, and where overtime is earned it has involved an equivalent additional deduction from the superannuation which may be drawn. Tonight’s regulations remedy this position by providing that where superannuitants in Government war-time jobs are required to work overtime, their overtime pay shall be disregarded for the purposes of computing deductions from superannuation.
