SICK AND WOUNDED FUND.— As a result of the screening of the picture “One Hundred Crowded Years’’ in aid of sick and wounded soldiers and prisoners of war, the fund will benefit to the extent of £ll. Arrangements for the carnival to be held from September 22 to September 24 in aid of Bluff’s quota to the all-purposes appeal are well advanced and it is anticipated that with the usual support given by the Bluff public the amount required to attain the quota will be reached. NATIONAL SAVINGS.— For the 22nd successive week Bluff has attained its National Savings quota, reports the postmaster, Mr A. M. Wilson. GOLF NOTES.— With a net score of 63 A. M. Ferguson was the winner of a oneclub match held on the Bluff links on Saturday. In the women’s section Mrs H. Waitiri was the winner of the senior and Miss R. McKillop of the junior flag competition. E.P.S. MEETING.— At a meeing of the central committee of the Bluff E.P.S. a motion of condolence with the relations of Mr G. F. Silvester, a member of the emergency fire service unit, was carried. For the day of prayer to be observed on September 3 the chief controller, Mr T. Boyd, intimated that a combined service would be held In the town hall at 7.30 p.m., at which all E.P.S. units would be asked to attend.
