GUN DOG TRIALS
The Southland Gun Dog Club held its fifth series of trials at West Plains during the week-end. Weather conditions were unpleasant, but there were fair entries and the spectators were treated to a good display of retrieving work. The judges were Messrs T. Pasco (puppy and novice), J. B. Pasco (limit) and J. R. O’Brien (open class). Results:— Puppy Class (single retrieve across water) W. F. Clouston’s Lab., Maid of Central, 95pts 1. Puppy Class (under six months, single retrieve on land).—J. Young’s Lab., Jock of Strathern, 88pts 1, H. Broad’s springer spaniel 87pts 2. Novice Class (single retrieve across water). —H. Broad’s s.s. Gold Robe 94pts 1, W. M. Clouston’s s.s. Brackenfield Trix 90pts 2, H. Johnson’s c.c.r Dock 89pts 3. Limit Class (single retrieve across water, two dogs on mark) W. F. Clouston’s Lab., Mid of Central, 96pts 1, H. Johnson’s c.c.r. Dock 87pts 2, T. Robertsons c.c.r. Karlol Bpts 3.
