SOUTHLAND BOWLING CENTRE

ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES Satisfaction with the success of the activities of the past season was expressed by Mr I. W. Martin, of .Gore, president, of the Southland Bowling Centre, when moving the adoption of the annual report at the annual meeting of delegates on Saturday. There were drawbacks unusual to a normal year but in spite of them the centre had carried out its obligations and bowling had made progress in Southland during the year, he said. Outstanding in an eventful year was the patriotic effort of bowlers throughout the province, particularly the tournament at

Easter which resulted in a sum of £42 being made available for patriotic purposes. He viewed the competitive activities and congratulated winners of club competitions, centre championships and tournaments. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr T. D. Pearce (Northend); vicepresident, Mr D. G. Davies (R.S.A.); secretary and treasurer, Mr J. C. Thomson; auditor, Mr W. Bell; management committee, Messrs T. D. Pearce. D. G. Davies and D. K. Torrance (ex officio), T. Pryde, A. Derbie, I. W. Martin, N. W. McGorllck, L. Gray, D. M. Scandrett, A. McKenzie, D. F. Tait and A. F. Kynaston.

Mr D. K. Torrance. Southland representative on the New Zealand Bowling Association, outlined the work for the year of the association.
