BOARD TO APPEAL FOR TEACHERS

Appeals are to be lodged for two teachers of the Southland Technical College who are due to be called up in the ballot next month. This decision was reached at a meeting of the Board of Managers of the college last night. The principal, Mr C. A. Stewart, said that one of 'the teachers taught mathematics and science and the other was an engineering teacher. Of three teachers of mathematics connected with the college two were already in camp, and this subject had had to be entrusted to teachers who were not fully qualified. 'lt would be calamitous if the third were called .up. Teachers of mathematics, science and engineering were difficult to replace. Mr Stewart said he had mentioned the matter because the ballot in .which it was expected the two teachers would be included would be published before the next meeting of the board.
