CHILDREN RETURN FROM HEALTH CAMP

Looking fit and well, a number of Southland children who have been at the Roxburgh health camp for the past 13 weeks returned to their homes yesterday. Most of the children had put on 71b to 121 b in weight during their stay in the camp. The children travelled back on the midday express from Dunedin. At' Milton they were supplied with refreshments by the local area committee. They were met at Invercargill by the Mayor (Mr A. Wachner), the chairman of the Southland Health Camp Committee (Mr M. Miller), the president of the Invercargill Committee (Mrs E. V. McKeever) and Mr R. H. Donaldson, of the Cliild Welfare Department. Addressing the children, the Mayor said that good work was being done on their behalf by public-spirited men and women. The camps were financed almost entirely by the sale of health stamps, by donations from the public and by Government subsidies.

More Southland children will leave for the Roxburgh camp today. They will be from Invercargill, Tuatapere, Winton, Bluff, Woodlands, Edendale and Gore. The party will be in charge of Miss Wright, who was also in charge of the children who returned yesterday.
