BLUFF NEWS
BOROUGH COUNCIL.—At the last meeting of the Bluff Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr N. W. McGorlick) presided. Cr H. J. Burke was granted further leave of absence on military duties. Dealing with the operations of the emergency fire service, Cr Budd reported that Superintendent Philp, of Invercargill, had visited Bluff and expressed satisfaction with the; efficiency of the unit. A letter from the Southland Museum Board asking for a donation was received, the council declining on account of expenses in other directions.
Mr G. Clark wrote stating that his vehicle had been damaged as a result of a subsidence in the road and claimed damages. The council decided to inspect the locality and deal with the matter at the next meeting. The Mayor was granted leave of absence to, attend a military refresher course.
STREET DAY APPEAL.—As a result of a successful street day held in Bluff on Friday the Crippled Children Society will benefit by the sum of £3l/12/6.
