GORE RACING CLUB
A statement that the club’s spring meeting programme would not be approved unless two trotting events were included was contained in a letter from the New Zealand Trotting Association received at a meeting of the committee of the Gore Racing Club. After a discussion the club’s programme committee was authorized to prepare a programme of galloping events only. It was pointed out by members that the club’s decision to reduce the trotting events had been made after a full discussion. Members expressed regret that trotting owners and trainers should be penalized through the action of the association, but it appeared from the tone of the association’s letter that there was no alternative but to eliminate trotting events altogether. The president. Mr M. Green, reported that the scheme for totalizator control sponsored by the club had been adopted by the other Southland clubs and was well under way. The totalizator depot would be open at Gore in the near future. A decision was made to send a letter of congratulation to J. R. Cochrane, trainer, on the win of Bashful Lady, trained on the Gore track, in the Winter Cup. •-
