McGLASHAN COLLEGE OLD BOYS
REUNION DINNER IN CAIRO Seven old boys of John McGlashan College held a reunion dinner in Cairo in May. Those present, all being members of the Ist Echelon of the New Zealand, Expeditionary Force, were:— E. N. Elder, quartermaster-sergeant attached to 4th Infantry Brigade Headquarters; R. D. Hoggans, corporal in the 19th (Wellington) Battalion; N. G. O’Callaghan, second-lieutenant in the 20th (South Island) Battalion; R. D. B. Paterson, captain in the 20th; E. B. Smith, private in the 20th; H. P. Viner, private, Brigade Headquarters; and J. C. White, lieutenant in the 19th and A.D.C. to the G.O.C.
Old boys who were not able to attend were:—H. Jacobs, B. Mitchell, R. Nancarrow, C. Wilson, and John H. Kempthorne, lieutenant and acting adjutant of the 20th. There was another old boy who could not attend, R. Chisholm (of Invercargill) who now wears the light blue of the R.A.F. The chairman was Captain R. D. B. Paterson.
