FINAL MEETING FOR YEAR WINTON YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB The final meeting for the year of the I Lochiel Young Farmers’ Club conclud|ed a series of successful gatherings. Mr ! A. S. Irwin presided, and the speaker for the evening was Mr C. M. Lindsay, of Winton, whose subject was fat lamb raising. Mr Lindsay traversed the history of the fat lamb trade and its development to the high state of production of the present day. Emphasizing the essential feature of good feeding for fat stock, the speaker said that this asnect was of greater importance even than the breed. He advocated early lambing as tending to reduce pulpy kidney trouble and keeping the pastures in better order. Before putting lambs on to any supplementary feed, he recommended that their teeth be broken as this kept the lambs from wasting the feed. A vote of thanks was passed to the speaker. - PERSONAL

Mr W. Wilson, who leaves next week to go into camp with the 4th Reinforcements, was the recipient of a presentation from the choir of the Winton Presbyterian Church, for which' he has acted as organist for the past two vears. The choir conductor, Mr R. M. Gilmour, in presenting Mr Wilson with a money belt, conveyed the best wishes of the members. Mr Wilson replied. EUCHRE At the final night of the series of successful euchre tournaments conducted throughout the winter by the Winton Returned Soldiers’ Association, the prize-winners were Mrs T. Egerton and Mr R. Fraser. FOOTBALL TROPHY PRESENTED The Winton footballers held a successful ball in the Limehills hall to mark the occasion of their victory in the Central District junior .competition. There was a big attendance, the music for the dancing being supplied by Yeo’s Dance Band. Mr P.- Kettle acted as master of ceremonies. The McLeod Cup for the oremiership of the competition was presented by Mr J. Mitchell, president of the Central Rugby Sub-Union, who congratulated the Limehills team on its success and referred to the close competition which had resulted.

The trophy was accepted by the team captain, Mr J. Bartlett, who replied.
