CRICKET

FEWER GAMES PLAYED THAN USUAL

ANNUAL MEETING OF WINTON CLUB

Fewer games had been played than usual, only one competition match being decided after New Year, said the chairman, Mr H. J. Lilico, at the annual meeting of the Winton Cricket Club. Winton, he said, had finished fourth in the Central-Western competition. One pleasing feature had been the interest displayed by the more youthful members of the club, and there was no reason why the club could not be kept alive in the present unsettled conditions. There would be no chance of taking part in any competition, but it was hoped to arrange a number of friendly games. The finances showed a slight credit, and it was interesting to note that the club had subsisted on revenue from membership subscriptions alone.

Mr Lilico extended the club’s best wishes to the several members who had enlisted for military service. Office-bearers were elected as follows:—Patron, Dr P. Gow; president, Mr H. J. Lilico; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Brandford, N. Metzger, B. Boylen, F. Boyle, G, W. Walters and J. R. Todd; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Wood; club captain, Mr R. Dixon; committee, Messrs F. Rawle, K. Lindsay, R. Dixon and G. Kilkerr; auditor, Mr W. F. Geary; delegates to Sub-Association, Messrs Lilico, Wood and Rawle. The appointment of playing captain and selectors was held over until a later date.

Subscriptions were fixed at 17/6 for senior members and 10/- for juniors, with a rebate of 2/6 if paid before December 31.
