SUDDEN DEATH The death occurred at Gore suddenly on Sunday of Mr John Mathews, a well-known resident of the town. Mr Mathews was attending church in the morning when he took ill in the vestry.
He was taken to his home, where he died shortly after 8 o’clock in the evening. Mr Mathews was a member of the session of the Gore Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Deacon’s Court.
CHILDREN’S COURT A youth appeared before Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M., at a sitting of the Children’s Court at Gore yesterday on a charge of breaking and entering with intent to commit theft. He was admitted to probation for 12 months and ordered to make restitution of the sum involved.
