FIRE AT WENDON

TWO HOUSES DESTROYED. A fire yesterday morning between 5 and 6 o’clock destroyed two residences owned by Mr Charles H. Rowe, Wendon. One of the buildings was a new one, only recently completed. Mr and Mrs Rowe and their two children were in their new home when the fire was discovered. Neighbours were quickly on the scene, but were powerless to prevent the flames spreading. A small portion of the furniture was saved.

The new home was of seven rooms, the old building having five rooms. A hut adjoining was also destroyed.

The insurance on the new house totalled £l2OO in the Farmers’ Office and the furniture carried £3OO. Mr Rowe will be a heavy loser, as a large quantity of new furniture had been put. in the building within, the past few days. The hut and the old house were uninsured.
