GOLF

GORE v. BALCLUTHA.

A team of 12 players from the Balclutha Golf Club journeyed to Gore on Tuesday and played a most- enjoyable match with a Gore team.

Foursomes were played in the morning and singles in the afternoon. The links were in excellent order.

The Gore players entertained the Balclutha team at lunch, and the ladies of the Gore Club supplied afternoon tea, which was much appreciated. At the conclusion of the play Mr Poynter returned thanks on behalf of the Balclutha Club, and Mr R. Fisher spoke on behalf of the Gore Club, thanking the visitors for their attendance. A return match would no doubt be arranged in the near future on a date which suited the Balclutha Club. The Gore players won the four-ball matches by three to two, one , being all square, while Gore also won the singles by five matches to four, with three all souare.
