EXPERIENCE TROUT FISHING. London, June 1. As fly fishers the Australians are as good as cricketers. Woodfull and Hornibrook were among those entertained to-day by the Marylebone Committee at Southampton. F. T. Mann, one of the English selectors, and Colonel C. Hesseltine, attired in waders, unsuccessfully tried for an hour and a-half to coax the trout to rise. Though the fish were plentiful they were only in a fair state. From this, their first attempt, the Cricketers, however, did not return empty-handed, Mr Kelly, the manager, carrying home a parcel containing their host’s catch of trout, which the hotel chef is preparing for the Australians’ breakfast. A number of the players this morning inspected the liner Leviathan, and this afternoon were all guests of Lord Forster, who is a former Hampshire player. They saw Sir Thomas Lipton’s new yacht Shamrock V. through a telescope from Lord Forster’s residence at Lepe. ENGLAND'S TEST CAPTAIN, (Rec. 8.50 p.m.) Sydney, June 1. The cricket selectors announce that A. P. F. Chapman will captain England’s first Test team.
