THEFT OF BICYCLE

YOUNG MAN’S LAPSE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 30. David Fahey, described as a butcher and aged 22, admitted to Mr Page, 53!., the theft of a bicycle at Christchurch, valued at £l5. The police stated accused had been in Wellington for some months and doing very little work. He had been living with a rough crowd and when arrested was living with a girl of 17. This was denied by counsel, who said accused belonged to a good Christchurch family and was boarding at the house where the girl recently convicted of housebreaking was living. He had been living a quiet, moral life and was an . athletic young man, holding an Australasian professional cycling record. Mr Page fixed the default at a month, and allowed a fortnight in which to find the money.
