SOLAR ECLIPSE

NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITION. TRIP TO NIUAFOU CANCELLED (Per United Press Association..) Wellington, May 30. For financial reasons and due to the fact that America is sending a strong observing expedition to Niuafou in connection with the total solar eclipse in September, NewZealand is not to send the party previously arranged and for which a number of instruments had been borrowed from Britain. This announcement was made to-day by the Hon. G. W. Forbes, who said the cost would amount to £lO9O and the value of the work would be overshadowed by that of America.
