EASTERN SOUTHLAND SUB-UNION.

WEEKLY MEETING.

At last night’s meeting of the. Eastern Southland Sub-Union, Mr F. Murray presided over the following members: Messrs F. Wallis Senr., G. Whittingham, C. D. McConnell, J. W. Aitken, I. W. Martin, H. G. Wallis, J. Lenihan, M. Fitzgerald, R. S. Green, R. Blair. The secretary of the Southland Union forwarded R. Millar’s application for a transfer from the Seaward Downs- Club to Star Club.

The secretary of the Edendale Club wrote stating that Millar, of Seaward Downs, had decided to play for Edendale if his transfer to Star was refused.—lt was decided to grant Millar a transfer from Seaward. Downs to Edendale. The secretary of the Edendale Club wrote stating that the club was not prepared to make any concession in connection with Popham, who was playing for Wyndham but lived on the Edendale side of the boundary. Popham would have to play for Edendale or stand down. B. Popham and the Wyndham Club were advised to that effect. A deputation from the Edendale Club (Messrs H. Waters and R. Marshall) waited on the sub-union, Mr Marshall stating that Popham lived on the Edendale side of the boundary and that his club intended to enforce the boundary rule. Mr F. Wallis moved a notice of motion to cancel Popham’s transfer to Wyndham on the grounds that it had been granted under a misapprehension. It was decided to call a special meeting on Monday next to deal with the matter. Applications for regrades for P. Holland and P. Hay from Pioneer first to second grade were granted. An application from A. Sinclair, of Seaward Downs, for a regrade was granted. It was decided that the Seaward Downs Club be asked for an explanation for playing Sinclair on Wednesday last. Arrangements for the transport of the Eastern team to Invercargill on Coutnry Day were finalized, and Mr I. Martin was appointed manager.
