THE BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY AND “BOULDERS.”
To The Editor. Sir, —A few months ago I wrote a letter which appeared in your columns in which I advocated sending back to Greenhills the “boulders” which are supposed to adorn some of our suburban streets, to be crushed into useful metal or screenings which might be used in repairing our much neglected asphalt footpaths. Apparently "Nothing is doing’’ in regard to the matter, but surely the unsightly and dangerous obstructions could be sold to some builders for foundation of buildings in the city—judging from the report which appeared in your Tuesday’s issue the Society considers that “everything is lovely in the garden” and while I and many others are prepared to admit that the society has done good work in many directions, we certainly think that a huge mistake has been made in placing dangerous and unsightly boulders in some of our suburban streets. —I am, etc., CRITIC.
