THE WATER INSTALLATION BUSINESS.

To the Editor. Sir, —Mr A. Macdonald deserves the thanks of ratepayers down south for his plain, outspoken letter and I hope they will study it. It speaks for itself. Why should ratepayers be charged more than the correct amount for any work carried out by the council? The council should protect ratepayers, not charge excessive amounts for work done. Moulson street ratepayers are charged, I am told, £7 for about 14 feet of sewerage. It is only a one-side streeet so they are not paying for the fellow opposite. I feel sure that a lot of ratepayers regret taking on such an expensive function as joining the town of Invercargill. I do at any rate. —I am, etc., «- M. THOMAS. South Invercargill, May 19, 1930.
