MILK FOR CHEESE.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Mr Kalaugher’s remark as to how he was impressed by my letter is of little interest. Impressions are easily made on anything soft, but he certainly seems inclined to drop the subject of Canadian Friesians. When the enormous quantity of New Zealand butter imported into Canada is considered it appears that either these wonderful Friesians do not exist or that their butterfat production costs more than it is worth. Mr Kalaugher makes no comment on my statement that Friesian semi-official records are made on three times a day milking and are therefore user less for practical purposes. Does Mr Kalaugher advocate three times a day milking as a general thing on dairy farms?— I am, etc., RUSTICUS.
