A FARMER SHOT, ACCIDENT IN AN ORCHARD. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 17. i'L T. Witcher, a farmer of Wainuiomata, was found resting on a box near the house whh a bullet through the head. He hail gone out to shoot birds in the orchard. A gun was lying near him, the muzzle being turned away from the body. The Coroner found that death was probably caused by deceased tripping. BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. AUCKLAND, June 17. The dead body of a man between 40 and 50 years of age has been found in the harbour. It had evidently been in the water for a few days. There is no clue to its identity. THE DEV ON PORT FATALITY*. AN ARTILLERYMAN’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, June 17. The fatal accident at Devonport last Friday night, when Sergeant-Major Sydney Evelyn Wright, of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, was knocked down by a motorbus and killed, was the subject of an inquest to-day. The Coroner returned a verdict to the effect that death was due to fracture of the skull caused by deceased being struck by a motor ’bus. He added that he could not find that the driver was in any way to blame.
