KEROSENE SCARCE
ACUTE SHORTAGE AT AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Juno 16. The shortage of kerosene supplies in Auckland at present is so acute ns to practically constitute a famine. Some shopkeepers are absolutely without stocks, and others are rationing it by the pint. Tile position is being keenly felt in the country districts, where the fanners largely depend on kerosene for lighting. A heavy demand for candles is one result, and supplies of candles also are very limited. Importers of kerosene anticipate that the shortage will continue throughout the winter mouths.
