TEACHER'S DISMISSAL
A SUCCESSFUL APPEAL. (Per United Press Association.! NEW PLYMOUTH, June 16. A sitting of the Teachers’ Appeal Court was held toulay to hear tin appeal by Herbert Victor Searle against his dismissal by the New Plymouth High School Boar;! on the ground that he had created dissatisfaction amongst the teachers and statT of the school. Appellant held the position o? third assistant master before going to tho war, and the Board promised to keep Ins position often for him. Mr Searle obtained his B.A. degree at Cambridge University last year, and returned to New Zealand in March last, when ho was offered a position as fourth assistant, the Board .having meanwhile appointed a former junior to Searle us third assistant. The Court upheld the appeal, holding that the Board was not justified in summarily dismissing appelant, and ordered that he be reinstated in the position from which he was dismissed, with salary as from the date of his dismissal. Mr F. IE Campbell, of the Secondary Schools Association appeared for Mr Searle.
