THE ALLIANCE. ATTACKED BY MR THEODORE. (By Telegraph,—Pres? Ar.sn. —Copyright.) (Reuter’s Telegrams.) LONDON, June M. (Received June 15, 7.45 p.m.) Mr Theodore, Premier of Queensland, in mi article in the Review of Reviews entitled “The Case against the Anglo-Japanese Alliance," says --"The story of Japan’s faithfulness to the Allies ha? been praised from every pla'form, but who has put the other side or told of (he <;uid pro quo which she demanded, or. worse still, of her actual ultimatum to Australia while the war was in progress Mr Theodore adds that the people of Australia are not prepared for a renewal ■o' the treaty except in a considerably modifier! form. Japan is reaping all the benefits of the present alliance. Australians, rightly I *r wrongly, feel that Japanese penetration in the Pacific islands is a potential danger which is no) minimised by the Japanese mandate over certain islands. Australia's democratic sentiment is outraged by the injustice of the Japanese treatment of China. Can Britain righteously renew a treaty admitting of the spoliation of the Chinese?
