BUTTER SUPPLIES

WELLINGTON, June 5,
The Director-General of Agriculture states that all butter of this season’s make now in store, including whatever s-mali quantity may be made between now and July 31, will be made available for consumpt.on within the dominion at fixed maximum prices, waich wiil be Is 51 d per lb tor balk bu’.ter, ex store, and Is 9d retail. The Ordcr-in-Council necessary for giving effect to this is now being prepared, and when tins ia gazetted the new price? will come into operation. This small increase in prices is neccssary in order to meet extra charges entailed by storage, handling, interest, etc., over the period during whieff the supply ot butter now in the dominion wiil be available for local consumption.
