MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Municipal Council was held last night at seven o'clock, to consider the propriety of borrowing money for the prosecution of town improvements. The Mayor and all the Councillors were present. After discussion, it was resolved that debentures, bearing 5£ per cent, interest . per annum, redeemable in twenty years, should be issued to the amount of £3500, and that tenders should be invited by advertisement for the purchase of the same. The Council, after a short adjournment, proceeded to hold the ordinary weekly meeting. The following tenders were accepted : — Bain an.l Co., printing conditions of contract, £6 53 ; Alexander Brown, lease of jetty and charge of powder magazine, £100 ; P. Brown, formation of Spey-street, £195; W. Cruickshank, drain iv Spey-street, £553. The balance sheet and auditors'' report for 1872 was affirmed and ordered to be published. The Council then adjourned.
