Auckland, Jan. 9. The iron smelting at Onebunga is attracting much attention amongst capitalists. The Rev. Mr "Roberts is announced to lecture on Monday ni^hfc on the treatment of the Martin's Bay settlers by the Otago Government. Wellington, Jan. 9. Dr Featheraton and Sir Charles Clifford have been appointed Commissioners to represent the Colony at the opening of the Vienna Exhibition. The Auck. land and Christen urch exhibits will be sent via Suez as the only means of reaching Vienna in time. Sir F. Dillon Bell has accepted office as a Commissioner of Enquiry into the Welliugfcon claims against the Colony for reserves taken in settlement of the M.tnawatu dispute. The report is to be submitted to Parliament. Judge Richmond and Mr Manning hare accepted seats as Commissioners in the Hawke's Bay Laud Sales Enquiry. It is rumored th.it the Natives insist that all purchases, whether by the Government or by individuals, must be investigated, or else they will not bring their cases before the Court. Very few claims have yet been preferred. The Agent-General expresses tbe opinion that unless Messrs Shaw, Saville & Co.'s contract be extended for two Years more, the immigration scheme is likely to break down.
