The LyUelton Times of the 17th inst. reports business moderately brisk, but general stocks low. In the produce market the value of wheat has greatly improved, and for the present holders decline to sell at anything like late quotations. Flour (inactive) is quoted at £11 to £11 10s, but a speedy rise is expected. Oats, far from being firm, are quoted at — heavy feed, 2s 7d to 23 8d ; medium ditto, 2s 6d. In provisions, the value of butter has further receded, and 7£i may be quoted as the top price. Cheese is moderately active, at 6d to 6£d. Bacon and hams find a ready market for export at 8d to B£cl. Live Stock. — Fat sheep are scarce ; 3d per lb, with eager competition for anything like fair quality, is quoted. Merino ewes have been sold at 10s, and wethers up to 13s 3d ; half-breds, 12s 9d to 13s 9d. Cattle are quoted at 27s 6d to 303 per lOOlbs, according to quality, with a plentiful supply ; cows near calving, from £6 to £9 ; weaners, from £2 to £2 10s ; yearlings, from £3 to £3 10s ; two year-olds, from £4 to £5 j three-year-oldß, from £5 to £6 10s. ;
