28th November. The Eree Banquet to-day, was a gfeat success ; it is estimated there were 100,000 persons present. The free banquet yesterday has been stigmatised as a failure by the Press in consequence of the non-attendance of the Prince ; great dissatisfaction has been expressed thereat, and some indignation at his advisers. Madame Celeste performed specially at the Hay-market last night, his Eoyal Highness being present. The house was crowded. The foundation stone of the new Town Hall was laid by the Prince to-day. The attendance was moderate. No business doing. Wheat, 5s to 5s 6d ; salt, £5 ; Downer's kerosene, Is lid. '
